About Su France

me-_edited.jpg

I'm Su, a British artist who blends printmaking with earth pigments to create unique, nature-inspired artworks. My pieces celebrate the quiet beauty of the natural world and embrace the philosophy of kintsugi—finding beauty in imperfection. Using muted colours and sustainable practices, I craft calming, grounded art, that offers a meaningful connection to the earth. Each piece is slow-made using plants I've grown or ethically foraged, ensuring a genuine link to the landscape.

I work tucked within my rural studio. Living deeply connected to the surrounding nature, I draw inspiration from intricate details observed in native plants, weathered landscapes, and ephemeral seasonal shifts. I’m also captivated by cycles of decay and regrowth, and I gather and mindfully examine personally collected organic materials, appreciating their overlooked beauty. Through prints I aim to capture their imperfect yet striking details, connecting them to narratives of like the Japanese art of repair. All my work, including earth pigment pieces, embraces slow, tactile mark making by hand that invites the viewer to wish to touch as well as see.
