Earth Marks-marks from the land on prints on paper and earth pigment on linen
Living on an arable farm, I have become a cartographer of subtle impressions—documenting the landscape's whispers through marks that speak of human connection with soil. My canvas is both paper and linen, my language a composition of stitch, ink, and earth pigments.
Each mark is a translation, a quiet dialogue between human touch and earthen memory. I trace the subtle gradations of colour—ochre browns, slate grays, rust reds—that tell stories of seasons, of cultivation, of generations who have pressed their hands into this same ground. These are not simply representations, but records of our relationship with the land that sustains us, a land which is now overworked, which needs a new form of agricultural stewardship.
My work captures the nuanced conversations between human presence and natural terrain. Through careful stitching and pigment grinding, I reveal the poetry embedded in handful of soils, weathered furrows, subtle shifts of colour that marks the rhythm of agricultural life.
