Inspiration for this original, abstract art print
The rhythmic pattern of furrows stretching across Lincolnshire's fields creates textures, some of which I captured in this abstract print's delicate markings. The addition of gold accents on the artwork mirrors how late afternoon sunlight catches the ridges of freshly tilled soil, transforming the landscape whilst also acknowledging the precious nature of the land.
Numbered 1/1 (as it’s a mono print and truly unique) and signed by the me, it is #18 in the series.
The Finer Details
Monoprint.
This is an original print (it is not a digitally reproduced print).
Image size: 6.5 x 6.5 cm - mounted size 25 cm square
The inks used are Cranfield safe wash.
The paper is Somerset and is unbleached.
How Its Made
My intaglio print technique starts when ink is carefully applied by hand to the plate (in this case the collagraph).
After placing the elements on the Gunning etching bed, it is pressed into damp paper, with the rollers transferring the ink, and creating a unique impression. If you would like to know more about my collagraph making, read my blog post here.
All prints come unframed, wrapped in compostable cellophane with a recycled card backing and quality mount. Each print is individually hand signed, embossed with my logo and numbered. This a standard size for frames (look out for 12" x 12").
The textures create interesting indentations on the paper and I layer Japanese earth pigment coloured tissue, in addition to 24ct gold leaf.
