Inspiration for this original, abstract art print

This textural collagraph print, titled "Marks from the Field," captures the intricate patterns of furrows and ridges left by plowing and tilling the soil. The contrast between the geometric, human-made markings and the organic, weathered surface conveys the interplay between human intervention and the natural world.

The varied tones and textures, from warm earth tones to cooler shades, enhance the depth and visual interest of the composition. It invites the viewer to consider the resilient marks left by the cycles of cultivation and renewal that shape the land.

Numbered 1/1 (as it’s a mono print and truly unique) and signed.

How Its Made

My intaglio print technique starts when ink is carefully applied by hand to the plate (in this case the collagraph which I have made, influenced by the arable farm where I live).

After placing the elements on the Gunning etching bed, it is pressed into damp paper, with the rollers transferring the ink, and creating a unique impression. If you would like to know more about my collagraph making, read my blog post here.

All prints come unframed, wrapped in compostable cellophane with a recycled card backing and quality mount.  It is embossed with my logo (which you can find out about on my blog) and numbered. This a standard size of frame.

The textures create interesting indentations on the paper and I wanted to show the depth of these which is why I included a photo of the back.
