Inspiration
This intaglio print titled ‘Silver Window,’ shows botanical elegance through a monochromatic palette with honesty seed heads that float against a nuanced grey and black background.
The seed heads of Lunaria, commonly known as honesty or money plant, are prized for their delicate, papery translucence. As a child I remember rubbing their tissue paper packets between my fingers to retrieve the precious seeds, for my dad to replant somewhere new.
These flat, silvery discs themselves persist long after the flowers have faded, offering ethereal beauty to both garden landscapes and now printmaking.
Numbered 1/1 (as it’s a mono print and truly unique) and signed by the me, it represents a valuable addition to any contemporary or nature-inspired art collection.
It is signed both on the print and the mount in case you decide on an alternative mount choice.

How Its Made
My intaglio print technique starts when ink is carefully applied by hand to the plate (in this case the pressed botanical and carborundum element) with the intaglio . The plant here is an honesty, which long before printing, I pressed.
After placing the elements on the Gunning etching bed, it is pressed into damp paper, with the rollers transferring the ink, and creating a unique impression. If you would like to know more about my collagraph making, read my blog post here.
